Anime and Comic Conventions with my Partner

Recently, my partner and I have attended two conventions. It took months of savings to do so and admittedly more debt than I would like as a result of some unfortunate financial situations I got into.

A few months ago we attended Tsubasacon in Charleston, WV. Here my beautiful partner, Samara, was able to cosplay (or dress up as various characters) and looked wonderful while doing it. I got to meet many of her friends, fellow cosplayers, and a local small artist/craft maker and their partner. I am very happy to be able to consider them friends or acquaintances of mine to some degree or another. My partner and her friends being able to join together a couple of times to do panels where they could in effect do a little improv show in character. They are very talented individuals, which if you ever get the chance you should attend a panel of theirs or in the very least get a selfie with, in their cosplays. 

During one of the panels at Tsubasacon, a meme/semi-inside joke was born with "dollar-rita Loid". Based around the fact that the cosplay of Loid was rushed due to a last minute cancellation and that right before the panel it was discovered that a nearby Applebee's was serving margaritas for a dollar each. During one of the other panels, the crowd really got into the interactions, with one cosplayer in the crowd having the adversarial relationship that the character likely could have had with one of the panelists characters. My partner and her friends being very, very entertaining. And another panel saw a forgotten wig by my partner, and the addition
of various cosplayers literally as we walked into the panel room.

As for the artist/craft maker and their partner (who I should note is also an artist/craft maker), it was wonderful to meet such talented, caring people. These people, already making the world a better place in their sections of society. I didn't wish to take too much of their time so they could get as much business as possible; but look forward to future interactions with them. If you ever attend a con, I encourage you to meet with the artists and craft makers selling their unique works such as the talented friends and sibling of my partner.

At the cosplay ball, or whatever name it had at Tsabasacon last year, I was able to see many talented attendees perform in a variety of acts. These included friends, as well as a very attractive (according to both me and my partner) and t
alented cosplayer whom my partner and I now consider a friend and is a mutual for my partner at least on Instagram. 

Following this up and as a bit of a present to my partner, we attended Lexington Comic and Toy Con this weekend. Some of our friends, including the new friend we made Tsubasa, also attended though we weren't able to spend as much time with them due to the larger size of the convention. My partner and I originally intended to attend all days of the convention, but unfortunately just before the convention my partner had a fall in which her wrist broke so we had to remain in West Virginia until her surgery. Luckily my partner is very strong, and was able to recover quickly enough that we traveled to Lexington the same day as her procedure (leaving directly from the pharmacy to pick up post-surgery pain medication).

Unfortunately due to my partner's injury she was unable to cosplay at Lexington, but it was a wonderful time seeing the cosplays of her our friends. We got to meet many members of the cast of a popular show among con attendees, my partner getting autographs and selfies with them. We got to see many cute and beautiful service dogs serving in a crowded and sometimes chaotic environment. And we saw many talented artists and craftmakers at LCTC as well. Unfortunately the only piece of art I wished to purchase was sold out, though I will be ordering or receiving the beautiful art piece of the cute, little, shy slime boy, Qui, in the coming months either purchasing it myself or my partner offered to potentially purchase it for me. Another artist I may commission from the convention, has various works involving reptiles and so I may order a custom piece of art based on my beautiful babygirl, my pet ball python Juliette.

As part of these conventions and having such a wonderful partner with such a wonderful group to share this hobby with I have actually added to my list of things I am interested in watching for the first time in years. And if I watch enough to be comfortable enough to do so, I am hoping to join my partner and new friends in cosplaying and potentially in panels where I feel able to provide a good example of the character. 

I look forward to, as my partner heals and I pay down some of the debt I unfortunately and unexpectedly incurred in recent months (due to bad luck), attending more conventions and revisiting the ones we recently attended.

My Political Future (Running in 2024?)

So since I was a teenager I have been vocal about my plans to run for political office. I originally had planned to run for WV House of Delegates in 2020 when I would have been 19 years old. However, a bout of depression & anxiety made it to where I failed to work toward this goal and had planned to give up on my political career (despite remaining passionate). I would come out of this depression in early 2019 & take the advice of my high school Physics teacher (R.I.P.) to run for a municipal office prior to running for the legislature. As such 2019 became the year that I graduated high school with honors, started university, got my driver’s license, my mom battled cancer, & I ran for Oak Hill City Council, Ward 2. Humble, Hungry, & Smart - Business Teamwork

So on Friday, I had an assignment in which I had to write a paper on teamwork, particularly in business settings, and how this one person said the three elements of an effective teammate were Humility, Hunger for Success, and Smarts as defined as emotional intelligence. And while that has already been written and submitted I was thinking back to last semester in my business simulation class. In that class we worked in teams to manage a business, one of the teams shared work but with one clearly defined leader, one team worked together without a leader and lacking an understanding of the simulation’s data, one team had a leader tasked with most of the work due to inactive team members, and my team selected me as CEO and we worked together on most decisions while trusting each other to make necessary decisions regarding particular aspects of the business which they managed to become skilled in over the course of the class.
